At Mogly Studio, we’ve seen a clear trend emerge, wedding after wedding: more and more Mexican couples are swapping the traditional reception hall for a vineyard. It’s not just a pretty trend for photos—though it certainly is that—it’s a different way of experiencing your wedding day: more leisurely, more sensory, and more connected to the setting.

Why are couples choosing vineyards?

The short answer is authenticity. The trends for 2026 point toward intimate celebrations, with fewer guests and more attention to detail, and a vineyard delivers that naturally: spacious yet cozy spaces, landscapes that are already decorations in their own right, and a dining experience that blends into the setting rather than being imposed upon it. Pairing stations, live carving stations, communal tables under the vines: the food ceases to be a mere formality and becomes part of the wedding’s narrative.

Guadalupe Valley: The Destination That Has It All

When we talk about vineyard weddings in Mexico, it’s impossible not to think first of Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California. There, world-class wineries, adobe and wood architecture, and a dry climate come together, making almost any date between spring and fall ideal for an outdoor ceremony. But it’s not the only option: in recent years, we’ve also featured vineyards in Querétaro, San Miguel de Allende, and even in the highlands of Coahuila, where Mexico’s wine scene continues to expand. Each region has its own light, its own palette of greens and golds, and that completely changes how the wedding looks—and feels—on camera.

As a wedding photography and videography team in Mexico, we can’t talk about vineyards without talking about light. The rows of vines create natural vanishing points that almost compose the shot on their own; the sunset filtering through the trellises produces that warm backlighting so sought after in Pinterest galleries; and the absence of rigid structures—unlike in a closed ballroom—gives us the freedom to move around and find angles that simply don’t exist in a traditional venue. It’s, honestly, one of the settings we enjoy covering the most: every vineyard wedding results in a completely different photo collection from the last, because the location itself brings its own personality to the shoot.

What to Consider Before Booking a Vineyard for Your Wedding

It’s not all picture-perfect scenery: there are logistical details worth planning well in advance. Most vineyards have limited guest capacity and restrictions on outside vendors, so it’s a good idea to confirm these details before you fall in love with the venue. The weather also plays a big role: during the rainy season, it’s a good idea to have a covered Plan B, and during the dry season, you’ll need to think about shade and hydration for guests during the ceremony. And since these venues are usually located outside the city, transportation for guests—and for the photo and video crew—is a detail best sorted out weeks in advance, not the night before.
